Exploring Tetris as a Transformation Semigroup
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tetris is a popular puzzle video game, invented in 1984. We formulate two versions of the game as transformation semigroup and use this formulation to view through lens Krohn-Rhodes theory. In variation upon which it restarts if player loses, we find permutation group structures, including symmetric \(S_5\) contains non-abelian simple subgroup. This implies, at least case, that iterated finitarily computationally universal.

Extreme Expertise: Exploring Expert Behavior in Tetris
Expertise is easy to identify in retrospect. It is the most expert player who wins the meet and the most proficient team that wins the playoffs. However, sometimes during play we see a masterful move that clearly separates one player from the competition. Our goal, in this work, is to identify the masterful moves or elements of expertise that predict the continuum of performance in the game of ...
متن کاملImplementation of Tetris as a Model Counter
Solving #SAT problems is an important area of work. In this paper, we discuss implementing Tetris, an algorithm originally designed for handling natural joins, as an exact model counter for the #SAT problem. Tetris uses a simple geometric framework, yet manages to achieve the fractional hypertree-width bound. Its design allows it to handle complex problems involving extremely large numbers of c...
متن کاملCombinatorial Deformations of the Full Transformation Semigroup
We define two deformations of the Full Transformation Semigroup algebra. One makes the algebra “as semisimple as possible”, while another leads to an eigenvalue result involving Schur functions. Preliminaries The Full Transformation Semigroup on n letters, denoted Tn, is the semigroup of all set maps w : [n] → [n], where [n] = {1, 2, . . . , n} and the multiplication is the usual composition. S...

Let c () be the collapse of full transformation semigroup, Tn. Then the general formula to calculate the number of collapsible elements, | tα-1| 2 is derived for all n 0, which is an extension of [1] (A.O. Adeniji and S.O. Makanjuola (2008), ‘On some combinatorial results of collapse and properties of height in full transformation semigroups,’ African Journal of Computing & ICT (Journal of the...
متن کاملTetris-: Exploring Human Performance via Cross Entropy Reinforcement Learning Models
What can a machine learning simulation tell us about human performance in a complex, real-time task such as TetrisTM? Although Tetris is often used as a research tool (Mayer, 2014), the strategies and methods used by Tetris players have seldom been the explicit focus of study. In Study 1, we use cross-entropy reinforcement learning (CERL) (Szita & Lorincz, 2006; Thiery & Scherrer, 2009) to expl...
